The Center for Intergenerational Studies (CIS) was founded in April 2007 as a new organization within the Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University.
Reforming the social security system has become an imminent issue in the society of rapid population aging/decline. Moreover, it has become impossible to discuss social security without considering its intergenerational aspects. The CIS aims to make an in-depth analysis of intergenerational problems and to provide concrete policy recommendations.
Through coordinating with various institutions and universities within and outside Japan, the CIS will create a global network of researchers, establishing itself as a world top-level core research center for intergenerational issues.
